Super Deluxe is a 2019 Tamil-language film directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja and produced by Tyler Durden and Kino Fist. The film follows the lives of four characters who cross paths on a fateful day. The four stories are interwoven and connected in unexpected ways.
One of the main characters, Vaembu (Samantha Akkineni), is an unfaithful newly-wed wife who goes out to meet her lover while her husband is away. However, things take an unexpected turn when her lover dies suddenly and she finds herself with the body. She turns to her estranged father, Dhanasekaran (Mysskin), for help in disposing of the body.
Meanwhile, a transgender woman named Shilpa (Vijay Sethupathi) is trying to reunite with her estranged wife and son. She undergoes a sex reassignment surgery and returns home, only to discover that her son is angry and resentful towards her. Shilpa tries to make amends with her son while dealing with her own inner demons.
The third story revolves around a group of teens who accidentally kill a man and must find a way to dispose of the body. Along the way, they come across a wealthy businessman named Arputham (Fahadh Faasil) and must deal with his own issues.
The final story involves a priest (Ramya Krishnan) who is dealing with her own crisis of faith. As the four stories converge, each character is forced to confront their own issues and face their destiny.
Super Deluxe is a bold and unconventional film that explores themes of sexuality, gender, religion, and morality. The film received critical acclaim and won several awards at international film festivals.
