Sunshine is a 2007 science fiction film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. Set in the future, the film follows a team of astronauts on a dangerous mission to save the Earth from a global catastrophe. The Sun is dying and is causing an intense cooling of the planet, leading to a new ice age.

The first mission, the Icarus I, which was launched seven years prior with a massive nuclear payload designed to reignite the Sun, failed after losing communication. The second mission, the Icarus II, is tasked with completing the mission and saving the planet. However, things quickly go wrong when the ship's shield is damaged by a massive wave of debris, causing the team to lose one of their members.

As they make their way to the Sun, the crew faces other challenges, including psychological breakdowns, equipment malfunctions, and attacks by an insane crew member who believes that the mission is too important to fail, leading to a tense and thrilling climax.

Sunshine is a visually stunning film with incredible cinematography and special effects. The film's score also received critical acclaim, composed by John Murphy and used to great effect to build tension and emotion throughout the story.

Despite some criticism for its third act, Sunshine is a thought-provoking and entertaining science fiction film that explores themes of sacrifice, teamwork, and the limits of human endurance.
