Sunshine Cleaning stars Amy Adams as Rose Lorkowski, a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet. Her sister, Norah (played by Emily Blunt), is a high school dropout who is constantly getting into trouble. The two women are trying to come up with a way to turn their lives around, but nothing seems to be working.
One day, Rose's ex-boyfriend, a police officer, tells her about the lucrative business of crime scene clean-up. With no other options, Rose decides to start her own company. She enlists the help of Norah and together they begin cleaning up crime scenes, biohazard situations, and other dangerous situations.
As they work, the sisters begin to bond and heal old wounds. They also meet a variety of interesting characters, including a lonely blood bank worker (played by Mary Lynn Rajskub) and a wealthy businessman (played by Alan Arkin).
Sunshine Cleaning is a dark comedy that explores themes of family, redemption, and finding one's purpose in life. The film received positive reviews for its quirky humor and heartfelt performances by Adams and Blunt.
