Sundays and Cybele is a 1962 French film directed by Serge Bourguignon. The film tells the story of a 35-year-old emotionally disabled veteran named Pierre (played by Hardy Krüger) who forms an unlikely friendship with a young orphan girl named Cybele (played by Patricia Gozzi).

Pierre meets Cybele on a bus ride and is immediately drawn to her. Over time, they develop a strong bond, with Pierre becoming a sort of father figure to Cybele.

However, their relationship is met with suspicion and disapproval from society due to the age difference between Pierre and Cybele. Moreover, as Pierre is still struggling with the trauma of his experiences in the war, their relationship becomes strained and complicated.

The film explores themes such as loneliness, isolation, trauma, and the transformative power of human connection. Sundays and Cybele was critically acclaimed upon its release and won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1963.
