Summer Stock is a 1950 musical comedy film directed by Charles Walters and starring Judy Garland and Gene Kelly. The film is set in a small New England town where Jane Falbury (Judy Garland) runs a struggling farm. Her sister Abigail (Gloria DeHaven) arrives with a troupe of actors led by director Joe Ross (Gene Kelly), who is also Abigail's fiancé. They plan to use the farm as a venue for their musical production.
Jane is initially reluctant to allow the actors to use her property but eventually agrees to let them stay in exchange for their help with the farm chores. Jane and Joe fall in love but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Joe is engaged to Abigail. As the opening night of the show approaches, tensions escalate between Jane and Abigail.
