Summer of 85 is a 2020 French drama film directed by François Ozon. The film is adapted from the 1982 novel "Dance on my Grave" by British author Aidan Chambers. Set in a seaside town in Normandy during the mid-1980s, the film follows the story of two teenage boys, Alexis and David, who meet in a boating accident.

The film opens with Alexis narrating about his desire to experience death as the ultimate thrill. He meets David, an adventurous and impulsive boy who takes him on a ride on his motorbike, and they quickly become best friends. Alexis, who is struggling with his feelings of being different, finds solace in his friendship with David, who appears to be carefree and fearless.

As their bond deepens, Alexis and David make a pact to live life to its fullest and take risks. They spend their summer sailing, dancing, and riding their motorbikes. Along the way, they meet an older woman named Kate, who infatuates both of them.

However, their carefree summer takes a dark turn when David's dangerous behavior leads to a tragic accident, forcing Alexis to come to terms with his own mortality and the consequences of his choices. The film tells a coming-of-age story that explores the complex nature of friendship, teenage desire, and the fragility of life.

The film stars Félix Lefebvre as Alexis and Benjamin Voisin as David. The supporting cast includes Philippine Velge as Kate, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi as a therapist, and Melvil Poupaud as Alexis' father. The film received positive reviews from critics for its nostalgic and melancholic tone, dynamic performances, and evocative 1980s setting.
