Summer Lovers is a 1982 romantic-comedy movie directed by Randal Kleiser. Michael Pappas (played by Peter Gallagher) and his girlfriend, Cathy Featherstone (played by Daryl Hannah) are American college students who decide to spend their summer on the picturesque Greek island of Santorini. They plan to explore the island, soak up sun and have some fun.

As soon as they arrive on the island, Michael and Cathy make friends with a group of free-spirited locals, including a bartender named Lina (played by Valerie Quennessen) who catches Michael's eye. Lina is an archaeologist from Paris, who is on Santorini to work on a dig. Michael and Lina start spending time together and soon develop a romantic connection.

Cathy, who is unhappy about Michael's growing interest in Lina, tries to confront her rival. However, instead of hostility, Cathy is drawn to Lina's free-spirited nature and soon the two women become friends. Cathy becomes increasingly fascinated by the island's hippie lifestyle and becomes more adventurous, including a wild ride on a moped with Lina.

As the summer progresses, the love triangle between Michael, Cathy, and Lina continues to grow, and tensions begin to rise. Matters come to a head when Lina is offered a job in Paris and Michael must decide whether to follow her or stay with Cathy.

Summer Lovers markets itself as a steamy, sun-kissed romance that fully embraces the free love philosophy of the 1970s. The film's depiction of sexual exploration and libertine attitudes scandalized some viewers and was considered quite daring at the time of its release. Ultimately, the movie is a fun, breezy, and romantic tale of young love, set against the gorgeous backdrop of a Greek island.
