Comedy  United States of America

Summer '03 is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Becca Gleason that revolves around the life of 16-year-old Jamie (Joey King) and her family. Jamie's summer takes an unexpected turn when her grandmother, Nana (June Squibb), reveals a series of shocking secrets on her deathbed.

Nana's breathless confessions, ranging from love affairs to family secrets, act as a catalyst for the unraveling of the relationships between Jamie's parents and her extended family. The sudden cascade of information leads Jamie on a journey of self-discovery, forcing her to question what she knows about love, sex, and family.

As her parents struggle to come to terms with Nana's sweeping confessions, Jamie finds comfort in the unlikely form of her grandmother's ex-lover, Bill (Paul Scheer). Together, Jamie and Bill attempt to unravel the complexities of Nana's past and make sense of her final wishes.

The film features an ensemble cast, including Andrea Savage, Erin Darke, Jack Kilmer, Kelly Lamor Wilson, and Stephen Ruffin. Summer '03 premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2018, where it received critical acclaim for its heartfelt performances and touching portrayal of family dynamics.
