Subway

Action,Thriller  France

Subway is a French film directed by Luc Besson and released in 1985. The film stars Christopher Lambert as Fred, the safe blower on the run, and Isabelle Adjani as Héléna, the woman he falls in love with. Fred finds himself caught up in a web of events larger than himself when he steals the documents from the businessman, who turns out to be more powerful and dangerous than he anticipated.

As he hides out in the labyrinthine tunnels of the Paris Metro, Fred encounters a variety of characters: a saxophonist who plays in the tunnel for spare change, a tall and silent man who paints giant murals on the walls, a group of musicians who jam together in a hidden room, a pair of street punks who offer Fred drugs and companionship, and the enigmatic "Roller Girl," who glides around on roller skates with a weird smile on her face.

Fred's adventures in the Metro include evading the businessman's henchmen, who are also searching the tunnels for him, and clashing with the hapless Metro police, who seem more interested in playing cards than catching criminals. He also falls deeper in love with Héléna, a beautiful and mysterious woman who seems to live in the Metro full-time, and who has secrets of her own.

As Fred and Héléna explore the Metro together, they grow closer, sharing their hopes and fears, and even forming a band with the musicians they meet. However, their idyllic life underground can't last forever, and soon Fred must confront the businessman and his goons in a thrilling climax that takes place on a speeding train.

Subway is a stylish and quirky film that mixes elements of action, romance, and comedy with a distinctive visual aesthetic. The film features a pulsating soundtrack by composer Eric Serra, as well as memorable performances from the talented cast. It remains a beloved cult classic of French cinema to this day.
