SubUrbia is a 1996 drama film directed by Richard Linklater and written by Eric Bogosian, based on his play of the same name. The movie follows a group of young adults who grew up together in a suburban town in Texas. The group includes Jeff (Giovanni Ribisi), a disillusioned and sarcastic young man who has dropped out of college; Buff (Steve Zahn), an aspiring rock star; Sooze (Amie Carey), a rebellious young woman; and Tim (Nicky Katt), a former high school jock who has become a bitter alcoholic.

The film takes place over the course of one night as the group gathers outside a local convenience store, drinking and talking about their lives and the future. Throughout the night, they confront their fears and frustrations with each other and themselves, as they struggle to figure out what they want out of life.

Jeff, in particular, is struggling with feelings of anger and resentment towards the town and the people around him, including his former best friend, Pony (Jayce Bartok), who has returned home from college with a new sense of self-importance. Sooze, meanwhile, is trying to come to terms with her sexuality and her feelings for the other members of the group.

As the night wears on, tensions rise between the group and a group of affluent teenagers from a nearby town, leading to a confrontation that forces them all to confront the realities of their lives and the choices they have made.

SubUrbia is a character-driven film that explores themes of identity, alienation, and the struggle to find one's place in the world. With its raw and honest portrayal of suburban youth, the film has become a cult classic and a defining work of 90s indie cinema.
