In Suburban Commando, Shep Ramsey (played by Hulk Hogan) crash-lands his spaceship on Earth in the suburbs of California. While waiting for his ship to recharge, he must adapt to life on Earth and hide his true identity from the humans around him. Ramsey is accompanied by his onboard computer sidekick, who he addresses as "Jock Hudson."
Ramsey befriends a struggling family - Charlie Wilcox (played by Christopher Lloyd), his wife Jenny, and their two children, Bradley and Suzy. Charlie is an architect who is struggling to design a building for an unscrupulous boss who thinks nothing of taking advantage of Charlie's creativity and hard work.
Despite his superhuman abilities, Shep finds it difficult to adapt to the routines of suburban life. He struggles with everyday tasks like eating cereal and making small talk with Charlie's clients. He also gets into frequent scuffles with local thugs, including a group of robbers who break into Charlie's house. However, these experiences help him learn about the value of human life and the importance of protecting the innocent.
As time passes, Ramsey and Charlie work together to defeat their mutual enemy, the corrupt businessman, and his muscle-bound henchman played by former NFL player, Bill "The Barbarian" Toothman. In the end, Shep is able to repair his ship with the help of Charlie's family and departs to continue his mission in space, but not before imparting some wisdom to his new friends.
