Victoria, a detective with the LAPD, tracks down a drug lord named Oka Tedjo, who goes by the alias "Teijo." However, her partner gets killed in the ensuing shoot-out, and she loses Teijo. Six months later, Vic decides to follow up on a lead, hoping to bring the drug lord to justice. Unfortunately, she has just had Lasik eye surgery, leaving her temporarily unable to see clearly.
Meanwhile, Stu, an Uber driver, is trying to get five stars from every customer he serves, as he prepares to buy a large gym that he's always dreamed of owning. Vic hires Stu to drive her around and help her catch Teijo. Initially, Stu is thrilled to have a new client, but he soon realizes that he's become an unwitting accomplice to a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Frustrated with Vic's demanding and abrasive personality, Stu tries to back out, but Vic convinces him to stick around after he inadvertently shows her evidence she needs to track down Teijo. As the odd pair works their way through its gritty LA underworld, Vic struggles to keep her eye on the prize, while Stu desperately tries to keep them both alive. Along the way, they run into some dangerous characters, including Teijo's henchmen, a corrupt cop, and some overeager gangsters.
The movie is filled with action-packed scenes, funny moments, and heartwarming exchanges between the unlikely duo as they face the challenges that come their way. In the end, Stu's courage, determination, and willingness to do whatever it takes to help Vic catch Teijo end up bringing them both the kind of satisfaction that only comes from a job well done.
