Strait-Jacket is a psychological thriller directed by William Castle and released in 1964. The movie stars Joan Crawford as Lucy Harbin, a woman who was committed to an asylum 20 years prior for killing her husband and his mistress with an axe.
After her release from the asylum, Lucy returns to live with her estranged daughter Carol (played by Diane Baker) who was just a child when she witnessed her mother's gruesome crime. However, as Lucy tries to adjust to her new life, it becomes clear that Carol is having a hard time trusting her mother and suspicions begin to arise about Lucy's behavior.
Despite attempts to rebuild their relationship, it becomes apparent that Lucy's mental state is unstable and that she might not have fully recovered from her traumatic experiences. As more people around her start to die, Lucy finds herself falling deeper into a spiral of paranoia and psychological instability.
