Still Mine

Drama  Canada

Still Mine is a 2012 Canadian drama film written and directed by Michael McGowan. The film is inspired by true events and tells the story of an elderly couple, Craig and Irene Morrison (played by James Cromwell and Geneviève Bujold), who have been married for over 60 years and live in rural New Brunswick.

The couple decides to build a new home on their land where they can live out their golden years together. However, the local authorities, who are concerned about their safety, refuse to grant them a building permit unless they comply with strict building codes and hire licensed contractors.

Determined to build their dream home, Craig proceeds to construct the house himself, even as he faces setbacks and challenges along the way. While Irene has been diagnosed with dementia, Craig refuses to let her stay in a nursing home, and is committed to providing her a comfortable and safe home. His persistence and determination to do the right thing will not only help the couple to achieve their dream, but also to bring their family closer than ever.

The film is a heart-warming and inspiring tale about love, family, and the fight for independence. With exceptional performances from James Cromwell and Geneviève Bujold, Still Mine delivers an emotional and thought-provoking story about the challenges of aging and the importance of following your dreams.
