Steamboy is a Japanese animated movie directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. It's set in 1866 England, during the height of the Victorian era, and centers around a young inventor named Ray Steam. Ray receives a package from his grandfather, Lloyd Steam, who's a brilliant inventor that had left the family years ago.
The package contains a device called the Steam Ball, which is a source of incredible power that can revolutionize steam technology. However, the Steam Ball also attracts the attention of some dangerous individuals who seek to use its power for their own purposes.
Ray soon finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly conflict between his grandfather and two rival factions, the O'Hara Foundation and the Science Ministry. The O'Hara Foundation wants to use the Steam Ball to power a new form of transportation, while the Science Ministry's goal is to use the device as a weapon of war.
Ray's grandfather believes that the Steam Ball should be used for the betterment of society, and together, they fight against the other factions to protect the device and its power. The battle takes Ray and his friends into the heart of London, where they face off against massive steam-powered war machines and aerial battleships.
