Stay Out Stay Alive is a horror movie directed by Dean Yurke and released in 2019. The movie follows a group of friends on a hiking trip in Yosemite National Park. While exploring the area, they come across an abandoned mine. In curiosity, they enter the mine and discover a gold vein. Excited by their find, they decide to take a closer look. However, one of them falls into the mine, which is now unsound and begins to crumble.
The friend who falls into the mine is trapped, and the group struggles to find a way to rescue him. As days turn into weeks, their food and water supplies begin to deplete, and they become increasingly desperate to find a way out. The group also starts to grapple with guilt and moral dilemmas as they struggle to survive. Faced with the possibility of being stuck in the mine forever, the friends begin to unravel, and tensions rise, leading to an escalation of horror and madness.
The movie features a talented cast, including Brie Mattson, Brandon Wardle, and Christina July Kim, who beautifully portray the characters' sense of desperation, hopelessness and fear as they confront their fate. Stay Out Stay Alive is an intense and claustrophobic horror movie that deals with the dangers of greed and obsession, and ultimately, the harsh reality of human nature when pushed to the brink.
