Stay as You Are is a 1978 Italian drama film directed by Alberto Lattuada. The film stars Marcello Mastroianni as Giulio Marengo, a successful landscape architect who is married but unhappy with his life. One day, while on a business trip to Florence, he meets Francesca (Nastassja Kinski), a beautiful young woman who catches his eye.

The two begin a passionate affair, despite the fact that Giulio soon learns that Francesca might be his daughter. Overwhelmed by guilt and confusion, Giulio tries to push her away and focus on his responsibilities. However, Francesca is equally drawn to him, seeing him not only as a lover but also as a father figure she never had.

As their relationship deepens, Giulio becomes more and more conflicted. He grapples with the morality of their situation, as well as his own feelings of desire and need. Meanwhile, his wife (Marina Berti) begins to grow suspicious of his behavior and starts investigating him.

The film is a powerful exploration of forbidden love and moral ambiguity, with strong performances by Mastroianni and Kinski. It was controversial upon its release due to its frank depiction of sexuality and taboo subjects, but has since become a cult classic.
