SG-1 discovers that an ancient weapon known as the Ark of Truth could be the key to defeating the Ori, a powerful race of aliens who demand worship and seek to convert all races to their religion. The Ark has the ability to spread truth across the galaxy, potentially breaking the hold the Ori have on their followers.
To find the Ark, SG-1 travels to the Ori's home galaxy, where they must navigate treacherous space battles and infiltrate the enemy's stronghold. Along the way, they are helped by a group of rebel Jaffa, including Teal'c's former mentor Bra'tac and a young warrior named Tomin, who has been disillusioned by the Ori's teachings.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, the Interplanetary Oversight Committee has dispatched a team led by Colonel Mitchell's former rival, Senator Fisher, to capture the Ark themselves and use it as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the Ori. When SG-1's mission runs into complications and they are presumed lost, Fisher's team takes matters into their own hands and launches an unauthorized attack on the Ori.
SG-1 ultimately succeeds in retrieving the Ark, but not before facing off against the Ori's powerful Replicator armies and their leader, Adria, a human-ascended by the Ori who possesses god-like powers. In a dramatic final showdown, Mitchell and his team confront Adria and use the Ark to spread the truth about the Ori, turning her loyal followers against her. As Adria's powers are stripped away, SG-1 finally achieves their goal of defeating the Ori and saving the galaxy from their tyranny.
