Electricity Awakens Bloodthirsty Earthworms

Horror  United States of America

Squirm is a 1976 American horror movie directed by Jeff Lieberman. The film follows a small Georgia town, Fly Creek, that is infested with flesh-eating worms after a storm knocks out power lines. The film begins with Mick (Don Scardino) coming to Fly Creek to see his girlfriend Geri (Patricia Pearcy) for a weekend visit. After arriving, he learns that the town has a serious worm infestation problem, and everyone is struggling to get rid of them.

As the night progresses, the town is terrorized by the worms, taking over people's homes and eating them alive. The film showcases various creative ways in which the worms attack people, such as attacking through faucets and drains. The climax of the film takes place in the town's general store, where Mick and Geri battle an army of worms, trying to save themselves and the remaining townspeople.

Squirm is known for its gruesome gore effects, which were created using real worms and latex props. The film received mixed reviews upon release but has become a cult classic over the years. It is also notable for its catchy tagline, "Squirm, they eat you alive!" and its memorable poster featuring a woman with worms crawling on her face.
