Rhyme, Autumn, Zoe, and Effie are all college students looking to let loose and have a wild time during their spring break. Unfortunately, their plans for a tropical getaway fall through when various mishaps occur.
Rhyme, who had planned the trip, accidentally booked their flights for the wrong day, causing them to miss their flight. Autumn's family had a change of plans and needed her to stay home to help with a family emergency. Zoe's car breaks down on the way to the airport, causing her to miss her flight, and Effie's passport is expired.
Despite these setbacks, the girls refuse to let their spring break be ruined and decide to make the most of their time in Miami. They end up staying in a dreary hotel, but soon discover that they are not alone in their predicament. They meet a group of college boys who are also stuck in Miami for spring break.
As the days pass, Rhyme develops a crush on one of the boys, named Max, and an unexpected romance blossoms between them. Autumn ends up reuniting with an old friend who lives in Miami, and the girls spend time exploring the city with her.
Zoe discovers her passion for photography after taking some incredible pictures of Miami's scenery and landmarks, and Effie learns to live in the moment and stop worrying so much about planning.
Towards the end of Spring Break, the girls come to the realization that their original trip plans falling apart was actually a blessing in disguise, as they would not have had the same experiences and memories if things had gone according to plan. They leave Miami with new friendships, newfound confidence, and a whole lot of stories to tell.
