Spivak is a dark romantic comedy that revolves around Wally Spivak, a struggling writer who is living in Echo Park. He is struggling to finish his long-overdue novel and to cope with his failed marriage. One day, he meets a naive and simple-minded blonde girl, named Dixie, who belongs to the Westside.
Initially, Wally is irritated by Dixie's bubbly and cheerful personality, but gradually, he starts to develop feelings for her. As they spend more time together, Wally begins to realize that his whole life has been a facade, and he has been living in a self-imposed prison of his own making.
Through their unlikely relationship, Wally is forced to confront his own insecurities, fears, and prejudices, all while trying to come to terms with the fact that he may have finally found love in the most unexpected of places.
As their story progresses, we see Wally's character undergo a transformation, from a bitter and cynical writer to a person who finds joy and happiness in the simple things in life. The film is a heartfelt exploration of love, self-discovery, and overcoming one's own self-loathing tendencies.
