Spiral: From the Book of Saw is the ninth installment in the Saw franchise. It follows the story of Detective Zeke Banks, played by Chris Rock, who is tasked with investigating a series of gruesome murders that seem to have a connection to Jigsaw, the notorious killer from the previous Saw films. Along with his new partner, played by Max Minghella, Banks delves deeper into the case, only to find himself in the killer's crosshairs.
As the investigation progresses, Banks discovers that the killer is targeting corrupt members of the police force, leaving behind gruesome and sadistic clues for Banks to decipher. As the body count rises, Banks realizes that the killer is getting dangerously close to those he loves and must race against time to stop the killer before it's too late.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw takes the franchise in a new direction by exploring corrupt cops and the inner workings of law enforcement. The film also features the return of Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, though his presence is limited to brief flashbacks. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed three of the previous Saw films, the movie received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its fresh take on the franchise and strong performances from the cast.
