Spiderhead is an upcoming science-fiction drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and based on the short story "Escape from Spiderhead" by George Saunders. The film follows the story of two prisoners, Abnesti and Verlaine, who are selected to participate in a drug-testing program at a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility.

Abnesti, played by Chris Hemsworth, is a brilliant scientist and the lead researcher of the program, while Verlaine, played by Miles Teller, is a rebellious and skeptical prisoner who is initially resistant to the drugs' effects. As they proceed with the testing, they begin to realize that the drugs are not only controlling their emotions but also their perceptions and memories.

As Abnesti pushes the boundaries of the experiment, Verlaine begins to question the ethics and purpose of the program. He discovers that the drugs are being tested on death row inmates, and the true purpose of the program is to develop a new form of execution that would eliminate any pain or fear associated with death.

As Verlaine and his fellow inmates struggle to resist the effects of the drugs and escape the facility, they come to realize that they are being used as pawns in a larger scheme. The film raises ethical questions about the limits of scientific progress and the moral implications of experimenting on humans.

Spiderhead also stars Jurnee Smollett, Mark Paguio, Sam Otto, and Tess Haubrich. It is produced by Eric Newman, along with Joseph Kosinski, who previously directed Tron: Legacy and Oblivion. The film is set to release on Netflix.
