Speed Kills is a biographical crime drama film based on the life of Ben Aronoff (Don Aronow), an American offshore racing legend and boat builder who for years leads a glamorous life as a speedboat racing champion, wealthy playboy, and businessman on the beaches of Miami. However, behind the scenes, Ben is involved in illegal activities such as drug trafficking and money laundering, which leads him to become a target for the FBI, DEA and drug lords.
As the story progresses, it reveals Ben's tumultuous personal life, troubled marriage, and his friendship with infamous drug kingpin, Meyer Lansky (played by James Remar). Ben's double life eventually catches up with him, resulting in a thrilling conclusion that is a mix of crime, action and high-speed boat races.
The film stars John Travolta as Ben Aronoff, with an ensemble cast that includes Katheryn Winnick, Jennifer Esposito, Tom Sizemore, Matthew Modine, and Kellan Lutz. It was directed by Jodi Scurfield and produced by Hannibal Classics, with a screenplay by David Aaron Cohen.
