After Cassius Green starts using his "white voice" to sell products over the phone, his career takes off. However, his success comes at a cost as he becomes separated from his activist girlfriend, Detroit, and his colleagues at his telemarketing company who are attempting to unionize. He becomes involved with a powerful businessman who is secretly creating an army of slave laborers and experimenting on them to create a new race of superhumans. As Cassius navigates the moral complexities of his newfound success, he must decide whether to join the fight against the corporation or maintain his new lifestyle. The film also explores themes of racism, capitalism, and gentrification.
