"Something Wicked This Way Comes" is a 1983 American fantasy horror film directed by Jack Clayton and based on Ray Bradbury's novel of the same name. The film stars Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, Diane Ladd, and Pam Grier.
The story takes place in Green Town, Illinois during the 1930s. The town is quiet and peaceful, but when a mysterious carnival arrives, things start to change. The carnival is run by Mr. Dark (Pryce), who promises to fulfill the town's deepest desires, but at a great cost.
Two young boys, Will Halloway (Vidal Peterson) and Jim Nightshade (Shawn Carson), become aware of the dark presence the carnival brings to their town. Will's father, Charles (Robards), is the local library's janitor, and he also becomes involved in the strange occurrences happening in the town.
The carnival features several bizarre and terrifying attractions, such as the Dust Witch (Grier), a woman who can summon a deadly storm, and a carousel that can make people younger or older. The townspeople become drawn to the carnival's promises of youth, beauty, and power, but they soon realize that they've made a deal with the devil.
Mr. Dark's ultimate goal is to capture the souls of the town's children and add them to his collection of freaks. Will and Jim must use their bravery and wit to rescue their friends from the carnival's clutches and stop Mr. Dark's evil plan.
"Something Wicked This Way Comes" received mixed reviews upon its release, but it has since gained a cult following. The film's special effects and eerie atmosphere have been praised, as well as its faithfulness to Bradbury's novel.
