Some Like It Hot is a 1959 American comedy film directed by Billy Wilder and starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon. The film follows the story of two musicians, Joe and Jerry, who witness a mob hit and find themselves being pursued by the gangsters. In order to escape, they decide to disguise themselves as women and join an all-girl band that is heading out of the city on tour.
While in disguise, Joe and Jerry take on the personas of Josephine and Daphne, respectively, and begin to form relationships with their fellow band members, including the beautiful and voluptuous lead singer, Sugar Kane (played by Marilyn Monroe). As the tour progresses, Joe finds himself falling in love with Sugar, while Jerry finds himself pursued by an overly amorous suitor.
The film is known for its sharp wit, clever dialogue, and comic timing, as well as for its iconic scene in which Marilyn Monroe sings "I Wanna Be Loved by You" while wearing a figure-hugging white dress. Some Like It Hot was a critical and commercial success upon its release, and it remains a beloved classic of American cinema to this day.
