Some Kind of Wonderful is a 1987 teen romantic drama film directed by Howard Deutch and written by John Hughes. The film stars Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson. It tells the story of a misfit named Keith (Stoltz), who dreams of being an artist and has a crush on Amanda (Thompson), the most popular girl in school.
Keith's tomboy best friend, Watts (Masterson), is secretly in love with him but keeps her feelings hidden, believing that Keith only sees her as a buddy. When Amanda breaks up with her arrogant boyfriend Hardy (Craig Sheffer), Keith asks her out on a date. In the end, Keith goes to Watts' house and confesses his love for her. They share a kiss as the sun rises over the city, and the film ends with them driving off into the horizon on Keith's motorcycle.
