Elders in Paradise: A Quest for Happiness

Comedy,Documentary,Drama  United States of America

Some Kind of Heaven is a documentary film directed by Lance Oppenheim that gives an intimate look at The Villages, America's largest retirement community in Florida, where over 130,000 seniors live in a luxury resort-style setting.

The film follows the lives of four residents, each with their own unique story. There is Anne and Reggie, a couple trying to reignite the spark in their marriage; Barbara, a widow who wants to find a new companion and start a new life; and Dennis, a bachelor looking for love and a sense of purpose.

Meanwhile, a mysterious interloper named Lynn roams the empty streets and abandoned buildings of The Villages, looking for a place to belong.

The film explores the theme of aging, loneliness, and the search for happiness in the twilight years of life. It challenges the notion that retirement communities are utopias, exposing the cracks beneath the glossy surface and the struggles that come with growing old.

Through the intimate and often surreal stories of its subjects, Some Kind of Heaven offers a poignant reflection on what it means to find meaning and purpose in life, no matter what age or circumstance.
