Sergeant Todd, played by Kurt Russell, is a genetically engineered soldier who has been trained since birth to fight and kill. He and his fellow soldiers have been bred to be perfect killing machines, with no emotional attachments or personal identities. However, when a new breed of soldiers is created, Todd and his unit are quickly rendered obsolete and are slated for disposal.
Given a new identity and dumped on a waste planet, Todd struggles to find purpose in his new life. He is soon taken in by a group of crash survivors who have created a peaceful society on the barren planet. Todd struggles to integrate into this new way of life but eventually finds a sense of belonging among the survivors.
However, their peace is short-lived as the new breed of soldiers lands on the planet in an attempt to wipe out the colony. Despite his initial reluctance, Sergeant Todd quickly steps up to defend his new family and his newfound sense of purpose.
Throughout the movie, Todd grapples with the idea of what it means to be a soldier and whether his training and upbringing have defined him and his actions. The action is intense and thrilling as Todd battles against his former comrades in a high-stakes fight for survival.
