Solace

Drama  United States of America

Solace is a coming-of-age drama film directed by Tchaiko Omawale. The film follows the story of Sole (Hope Olaide Wilson), a 17-year-old girl who is forced to leave her home in Brooklyn to live with her estranged family in Los Angeles after the unexpected death of her father. Sole's new life in LA is a stark contrast to what she's used to in Brooklyn, and she finds it hard to adjust to her new environment.

As she struggles to find her place in her new family, Sole also finds herself drawn to Jasmine (Chelsea Tavares), her self-destructive neighbor who has her own set of issues to deal with. Jasmine introduces Sole to a world of partying, drugs, and wild behavior, which provides an escape from her problems.

Over time, the two girls develop a friendship that is both complicated and cathartic. As they navigate their way through their individual struggles, Sole and Jasmine learn to rely on each other, finding solace in one another's company.

The film is an honest portrayal of the struggles that teenagers go through while dealing with the loss of a parent and trying to find their place in the world. It explores themes of family, friendship, love, loss, and self-discovery. The stunning performances by the lead actors and the beautifully shot cinematography make Solace a must-watch film.
