The film follows Alexander Pechersky as he is transported to the Sobibor concentration camp along with thousands of other Jews. Upon arrival, he witnesses the brutality of the Nazi officers and the atrocities being committed against his fellow prisoners. Alexander realizes that survival is nearly impossible in Sobibor and begins to form a plan to revolt against their oppressors.
Alexander unites with Leon Feldhendler, a Jewish leader, and they gather a group of prisoners to train them for the uprising. Alexander, who speaks multiple languages, communicates with the prisoners from different countries to ensure that the plan is meticulously executed.
The plan involves sabotaging the camp's infrastructure, starting a rebellion, and breaking out as many prisoners as possible. They successfully carry out their plan, resulting in the deaths of 11 Nazi officers and the escape of over 300 prisoners.
Alexander and about 60 other survivors flee to the nearby woods, where they face further challenges of survival, including hunger, cold temperatures, and Nazi attempts to capture them. Alexander demonstrates his leadership skills once again by organizing the group and preventing them from breaking into factions.
Sobibor is a heart-wrenching portrayal of one of the darkest episodes in human history. It highlights the strength and resilience of the human spirit, and the sacrifices made by those who fought against Nazi tyranny.
