John Baxter is a successful businessman living in New York City with his wife, Sue, and their children, Chris and Tracy. One day, he receives news that he has inherited a ski resort in the Rocky Mountains from his uncle. John is tired of his stressful job and sees this as an opportunity to start a new life with his family.

Excited about their new adventure, the family packs their bags and sets off for the snowy mountains. However, upon arrival, they are shocked to discover that the resort is in terrible condition and in dire need of repairs. The staff is unskilled and unmotivated, and the lodge is almost empty.

Despite these setbacks, John is determined to make the resort successful. He gets to work fixing up the lodge and hires a new group of motivated employees, including a young ski instructor named Bonnie, who becomes a love interest for their teenage son, Chris.

Meanwhile, Martin Ridgeway, a wealthy businessman who wants to develop the land on which the resort stands, tries every trick in the book to sabotage John's efforts. However, John and his family refuse to give up and work hard to make the resort a success.

As the winter season progresses, more and more guests arrive at the resort, and the family begins to see the fruits of their labor. However, Ridgeway won't give up on his plan to acquire the land, and he uses underhanded tactics to try to force John to sell.

In the end, John and his family band together to fend off Ridgeway's attacks and successfully run the Snowball Express ski resort, living happily ever after in their new home.
