In Smothered by Mothers, the football star, Bobby Davis (played by Shannon Brown), is a highly successful and wealthy athlete who seems to have it all. However, he is conned by a Ponzi scheme and loses everything, including the life savings of his parents and other relatives. This leaves him broke and unable to support his three girlfriends, who he has impregnated at the same time.
Desperate for a place to stay, the three women move in with Bobby's mother (played by Jo Marie Payton). With all the different personalities living under one roof, tensions run high and chaos ensues. To make matters worse, Bobby's scheming agent and his ex-girlfriend conspire to take advantage of his financial troubles.
Determined to get his money back and start a new life, Bobby enlists the help of his moms (his mother and his three girlfriends' mothers) to pull off an elaborate caper that involves stealing from the crooked businessman who scammed him. Along the way, the group learns the true meaning of family and the importance of standing together in times of crisis.
