In Smokey and the Bandit II, the Bandit (played by Burt Reynolds) is hired by a circus owner to transport a pregnant elephant from Florida to Dallas, Texas. The catch is that the elephant must arrive in Dallas in just three days, before the opening night of the circus.

Sheriff Buford T. Justice (played by Jackie Gleason) is still angry at the Bandit for all the trouble he caused in the first film, and is determined to catch him once and for all. He sets off on a high-speed pursuit through several states, joined by his bumbling son Junior (played by Mike Henry) and a new love interest, a beautiful Proctologist named Dr. Beulah Farquhar (played by Sally Field).

Meanwhile, the Bandit and his partner Cledus Snow (played by Jerry Reed) must find clever ways to avoid the law while keeping the elephant healthy and safe. They are also pursued by a rival trucking company who wants to steal the contract from them and take the elephant for themselves.

The film is full of high-speed chases, car crashes, and comedic hijinks as the Bandit races against the clock to deliver the elephant and outsmart the law. In the end, the Bandit and the Sheriff have a final showdown that involves a hot-air balloon and a rodeo arena, leading to a surprising conclusion.
