Small Soldiers is a science-fiction action-comedy movie released in 1998, directed by Joe Dante and produced by DreamWorks Pictures. The plot of the movie revolves around a toy company called Heartland Play Systems (HPS) that creates a new line of action figures called Commando Elite and Gorgonites. These toys are fitted with highly advanced military microchips and missile technology to make them the ultimate fighting machines.
While the Commando Elite action figures are programmed to be strong, aggressive, and dominant, the Gorgonites are programmed to be peaceful and submissive. However, due to a programming error, the Commando Elite toys fail to recognize that they are toys and believe that their mission is to take over the world. They become highly intelligent and militaristic, organizing attacks and creating chaos wherever they go.
The movie follows the journey of Alan Abernathy (Gregory Smith), a teenager who purchases a set of Commando Elite toys from a toy store, and ends up discovering the malfunction in their programming. Alan teams up with Gorgonites, who have become his friends, to take down the rogue Commando Elite toys led by their ruthless leader, Major Chip Hazard (Tommy Lee Jones).
Throughout the movie, Alan and his friends attempt to stop the Commando Elite's plans and save the town from destruction. The action is fast-paced, and the comedy is often tongue-in-cheek, providing a lighthearted action-packed experience for viewers.
