Slap Shot is a 1977 sports comedy film directed by George Roy Hill, written by Nancy Dowd, and starring Paul Newman and the Hanson Brothers. The film follows the Charlestown Chiefs, a minor-league hockey team on the verge of folding due to poor attendance. In an effort to boost ticket sales, the team's coach, Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman), decides to bring in the Hanson Brothers - violent and highly physical players who are infamous for their brutal and unorthodox playing style.

As the Hanson Brothers wreak havoc on the ice, the Chiefs' fortunes begin to turn, as they start to win games thanks to their newfound aggression. However, as tensions rise and the violence becomes more extreme, the players on both teams become increasingly injured and the situation spirals out of control.

Slap Shot is known for its fast-paced action on the ice, as well as its raunchy humor and sharp social commentary. The film has since become a cult classic, celebrated for its unique blend of sports, comedy, and drama.
