Skin is a biographical drama film that was released in 2018, directed by Guy Nattiv. The movie tells the story of Bryon Widner, a young man who was raised by racist skinheads and became notorious among white supremacists. However, despite his violent and bigoted upbringing, Bryon begins to question his beliefs and ultimately chooses to leave the white power movement.
The film takes us through Bryon's journey as he attempts to leave his past behind and rebuild his life. Along the way, he forms an unlikely bond with a black activist named Daryle (played by Mike Colter), who helps him to escape from the violent and radicalized subculture he was once a part of. Bryon is also helped by Julie (played by Danielle Macdonald), a woman who he falls in love with and who encourages him to leave his past behind.
Skin is a powerful and moving film that explores themes of identity, redemption, and the capacity for personal transformation. The film received critical acclaim for its honesty and sensitivity in handling a difficult subject matter and its portrayal of the cost of hate and the power of love. Jamie Bell delivers an exceptional performance as Bryon, while the supporting cast does an excellent job of bringing the story to life.
