In Single White Female, Allison Jones, played by Bridget Fonda, is a successful career woman living in Manhattan. She has a loving boyfriend named Sam, played by Steven Weber, and enjoys a comfortable life in her rent-controlled apartment. However, when she discovers that Sam has been unfaithful, she ends their relationship and is forced to find a new roommate to help her cover the rent.

Allison eventually finds a new roommate in Hedra Carlson, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. At first, Hedra seems like the perfect roommate, friendly and helpful to Allison. However, as time goes on, Allison begins to notice some strange behavior from Hedra. She starts to dress like Allison, copy her hairstyle, and even attempts to sleep with Sam.

As Allison confronts Hedra about her behavior, things take a dangerous turn. Hedra becomes increasingly obsessed with Allison and starts to sabotage her relationships and career. Eventually, Allison realizes the danger she's in and fights back against Hedra in a chilling climax.

Single White Female is a psychological thriller that explores themes of obsession, identity, and the darker side of human nature. The film is directed by Barbet Schroeder and was a commercial success upon its release in 1992.
