Silent House is a 2011 horror thriller movie directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, and stars Elizabeth Olsen as Sarah, Adam Trese as her father John, and Eric Sheffer Stevens as her uncle Peter. The movie is a remake of the Uruguayan film La Casa Muda.
The movie has a unique style of being shot in real-time, with only one continuous take, which adds to the tension and suspense. The story follows Sarah, who returns to the summerhouse with her father and uncle to help clean and fix it up for sale. As they work, they discover that the house has been boarded up from the inside and the power is out. The trio quickly realizes that they are not alone in the house as they begin to hear strange noises from within the walls.
Sarah, who was last at the summerhouse when she was a child, is haunted by her memories of the place and becomes increasingly scared as the night drags on. She hears footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, and even sees a faceless figure lurking in the darkness. As the tension ramps up, the three become separated, and Sarah finds herself trapped and alone, facing her deepest fears and the reality of the house's dark secrets.
Without giving away any spoilers, Silent House is a creepy and suspenseful movie that will keep you on edge until the very end. The performances of the actors, especially Olsen, are excellent, and the directorial style of the movie adds to the intensity of the story.
