Signs is a 2002 science fiction thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The movie follows a former Episcopal priest named Graham Hess (played by Mel Gibson), who has lost his faith after his wife dies in a gruesome car accident.
Graham lives on a farm with his two children, Morgan and Bo, and his younger brother, Merrill. One morning, they discover mysterious crop circles in their fields, which sparks rumors and theories in their small town about aliens.
As the days pass, more crop circles appear all over the world, and strange occurrences begin to happen in the farm, like the dogs barking at nothing and doors opening and closing on their own. Graham becomes increasingly convinced that this is a sign of an alien invasion, while his brother Merrill (played by Joaquin Phoenix) dismisses it as a hoax.
The tension builds as the family prepares for the worst, convinced that the aliens are going to attack their farm. However, as the aliens finally arrive, they soon discover that the aliens are vulnerable to water, and it is up to Graham to save the day and protect his family from the extraterrestrial threat.
Signs was a commercial success, grossing over $400 million worldwide. The movie received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising the suspenseful atmosphere and performances, while others criticized the plot and Shyamalan's direction.
