Teddy Daniels, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, is a United States Marshal investigating the disappearance of a patient from Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane, located on Shutter Island. Accompanied by his new partner Chuck Aule, played by Mark Ruffalo, Daniels begins to uncover some unsettling truths about the island and its inhabitants.
Daniels also suffers from disturbing hallucinations and flashbacks related to his experiences during World War II and the death of his wife in a fire. As he investigates further, he becomes convinced that something sinister is at work on the island and that the staff of Ashecliffe Hospital are involved in a large-scale conspiracy.
As Daniels delves deeper into the case, he begins to unravel a twisted web of deceit, manipulation, and madness. However, he soon realizes that he himself may be a pawn in the game, and the shocking truth about his own past may be the key to solving the case.
The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese and features a star-studded cast including Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow, and Michelle Williams. Shutter Island is a psychological thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
