In addition to Elin and Agnes' storyline, the movie also follows the lives of other young people in Åmål. Elin's friend, Jessica, is dating a boy named Johan who doesn't seem to care about her feelings. Johan's friend, Markus, is secretly in love with Jessica. Elin's younger sister, Jessica, is struggling with her own identity, trying to figure out who she is in a world where everyone seems to try to fit in.
As the movie progresses, Elin and Agnes' relationship becomes more complicated. Elin's friends make fun of Agnes when they find out about her feelings for Elin, making Elin feel embarrassed and ashamed. However, Elin can't help but be drawn to Agnes and eventually shares a kiss with her during a school dance.
The movie deals with themes of identity and acceptance, as well as the difficulties of adolescence. It portrays the struggles of young people who feel different in a small town where conformity is the norm. However, it also shows the power of friendship and love to overcome societal pressures and expectations.
