Shiner is a drama and sports-themed movie that revolves around the life of Matt, a young man who aspires to become a world champion fighter. After failing to find success in his hometown, Matt moves to the big city in search of better opportunities. There he meets Happy McBride, a former MMA fighter who now manages a struggling gym and sees potential in Matt.
Happy takes Matt under his wing and trains him in various fighting techniques. Along the way, Matt meets Nikki, Happy's daughter, and they quickly fall in love. However, Happy is not too happy about their relationship and disapproves of their romance.
As Matt climbs the ranks in the underground world of MMA fighting, he faces numerous challenges, both in and outside the ring. He must navigate through corrupt promoters, brutal opponents, and the disapproval of those closest to him.
