The main characters of Shelter in Place are newlyweds Jennifer (played by Brittany Snow) and Harris (played by Dan Smyers). They had planned an extravagant honeymoon filled with exotic locales and lavish experiences. However, when a global pandemic strikes, their plans are upended and they end up stuck at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles.
With most businesses closed and the city on lockdown, Jennifer and Harris are left with only two hotel employees for company: the gruff and suspiciously aloof manager (played by Jayson Blair) and the meek and nervous front desk clerk (played by Jenna Powell).
At first, the newlyweds try to make the most of the situation, spending their days lounging by the pool and taking advantage of the hotel's amenities. But as the weeks wear on and their isolation becomes more profound, tensions start to rise between them and the hotel staff.
Meanwhile, strange things are happening in the hotel. Guests who were supposed to have checked out weeks ago are still occupying rooms, and there are whispers of something sinister lurking in the shadows. Jennifer and Harris begin to fear for their safety, and they soon realize that they may not make it out of the Hollywood Roosevelt alive.
As the pandemic rages on outside, the newlyweds find themselves battling their own demons, as well as the dark secrets that lie within the hotel's walls. Their honeymoon has turned into a nightmare, and they must fight to survive until they can find a way out.
