Shaolin is a martial arts action film directed by Benny Chan and featuring an all-star cast including Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse, and Jackie Chan in a supporting role. The film is set in China during the 1920s and tells the story of the legendary Shaolin Temple, which becomes a place of refuge for a group of warlord refugees.
Hao Jie (Andy Lau) is a ruthless warlord who massacres his enemies and has no respect for others. He is arrogant and sees himself as the most powerful man in the land, but his downfall comes when he is betrayed by one of his own men and his entire family is murdered. He seeks refuge at the Shaolin Temple, where he meets the Abbot (Jackie Chan) and begins to learn the ways of Kung Fu.
Meanwhile, Shaolin is being threatened by another warlord, General Hou (Yu Xing), who is determined to wipe out the temple and claim its territory. When Hao Jie's former ally, Cao Man (Nicholas Tse), joins forces with General Hou, the Shaolin monks are faced with their greatest challenge yet.
In a desperate bid to save themselves and their way of life, the monks must band together and use their martial arts skills to fight back against their enemies. The film features some spectacular fight scenes, including a stunning battle in a burning building, as well as a thrilling final showdown between the Shaolin monks and their foes.
