The movie Shanghai Fortress is set in the year 2035, where the city of Shanghai has been selected as the primary target for the alien invasion. The aliens are known to harvest a powerful energy source that only exists on Earth, which they intend to use for their own benefit. The humans have constructed a colossal defense system, the Shanghai Fortress, to protect themselves against the alien attacks.
The main protagonist of the movie is a young soldier named Lan Cheng-lung, who is assigned to work on the Shanghai Fortress. In the beginning, he is depicted as a rookie soldier who has never been trained for battle, but as the story unfolds, he proves to be a brave and skilled warrior.
Lan Cheng-lung's life takes a turn when he meets a beautiful young scientist named Lin Pei-ying. Together, they embark on a journey to stop the alien invasion and defend their city against the ongoing attack. They manage to uncover the truth about the alien's plans and also the reason for their invasion.
The movie features plenty of intense action sequences, visually stunning special effects, and an underlying love story that develops between the two main characters. The film concludes with a thrilling climax where the fate of the city of Shanghai and the world rests in the hands of Lan Cheng-lung and Lin Pei-ying as they fight to save humanity.
