Shall We Kiss? is a French romantic drama film that was released in 2007. The movie is directed by Emmanuel Mouret, who also stars as Gabriel, one of the lead characters.

Emilie (played by Julie Gayet) is a successful lawyer who lives in Nantes. One day, while waiting for a friend at a train station, she bumps into Gabriel, an old acquaintance from Paris. Gabriel offers to give her a ride, and they end up spending the evening together. During their conversation, Gabriel asks Emilie if she would like to kiss him, and she declines, citing the potential consequences of such an act.

Gabriel is confused by Emilie's response and asks her to explain her reasoning. She tells him a story about her friend Judith (played by Virginie Ledoyen) and her encounter with Nicolas (played by Michael Cohen). Judith and Nicolas had a one-night stand that caused a chain of events that ultimately led to Judith's divorce and the breakup of Nicolas's relationship.

As Emilie tells her story, the movie flashes back to different scenes depicting Judith and Nicolas's relationship. The flashbacks are intercut with scenes of Gabriel and Emilie's conversation. Through these intercut scenes, the movie explores the theme of the far-reaching consequences of our actions, even seemingly small ones.

At the end of Emilie's story, Gabriel understands her perspective and the potential consequences of their kiss. He drops her off and heads back to Paris, leaving Emilie to ponder what could have been. The movie ends with Gabriel contemplating Emilie's story and reflecting on the importance of considering the consequences of our actions.
