Shaft's Big Score! is a 1972 Blaxploitation film that follows private detective John Shaft as he investigates the murder of his friend and client, the Harlem gangster Bumpy Jonas. Shaft's investigation takes him from New York City to Los Angeles, where he crosses paths with a powerful organized crime syndicate. Along the way, he teams up with Jonas's beautiful widow, an exotic dancer named Rita, to uncover the truth behind the murder.
As Shaft delves deeper into the case, he discovers that Bumpy's killer is after a cache of stolen diamonds that the gangster had hidden away. With the help of Rita and a few trusted allies, Shaft sets out to recover the diamonds and bring the killer to justice. Along the way, he faces off against corrupt cops, vicious gangsters, and a femme fatale with a deadly secret.
Like the first Shaft film, Shaft's Big Score! features a funky soundtrack by Isaac Hayes and plenty of gritty action and violence. It also marks the return of Richard Roundtree in the iconic role of John Shaft, a smooth-talking, streetwise detective who always gets his man. Despite mixed reviews upon its release, Shaft's Big Score! has since become a cult classic of the Blaxploitation genre.
