In Shaft in Africa, Detective John Shaft is recruited by an African diplomat to infiltrate a human trafficking ring that is capturing and enslaving African workers. Shaft travels incognito to Ethiopia and makes contact with the leader of the trafficking ring, Vassari (Frank Finlay). He poses as a slave and begins to gather information.
Shaft soon realizes that the trafficking ring is not just confined to Ethiopia, but extends to France, where wealthy clients purchase the African slaves. He travels to Paris and teams up with local detective Jules Bergerac (Claude Akins) to follow the trail of the traffickers.
In France, Shaft and Bergerac uncover a network of wealthy and powerful businessmen who are part of the trafficking ring. Shaft uses all his skills and resources to bring down the operation and free the enslaved workers.
Throughout the movie, Shaft faces dangerous situations and fights numerous battles to take down the traffickers. He also has several romantic encounters, including one with Aleme (Vonetta McGee), a local freedom fighter who helps him in his mission.
Shaft in Africa was released in 1973 and is the third movie in the Shaft film series. The movie was directed by John Guillermin and starred Richard Roundtree as John Shaft. It received mixed reviews from critics but was successful at the box office.
